New York Photo Diary

Had an amazing time in New York, pre Christmas, with the family. Spent most of time in the Meatpacking District and of course visited the festive windows at Bergdorf Goodman. Fur was everywhere in the form of coats, hats, bags, ect. Stopped by the Lady GaGa exhibit at Barneys and the only place to get Asian fashion magazines besides Japan Town in San Francisco, that we know of, Kinokuniya Bookstore for the amazing free gifts (like these Marc Jacobs goodies) and endless pages of inspiration.

Pins and Needles

(H&M maxi dress, Urban Outfitters fur jacket, Steve Madden wedge heels)

Finding inspiration from the one beam of light on this cold, wintery day, I decided to don this fluffy, over-sized fur jacket paired with a long maxi dress.  The outfit seemed to embody the strange mix of coldness and warmth of the season.  Without the need for accessories, this jacket has the ability to effortlessly make me feel glamourous and elegant.  The rich black of the maxi-dress provided a simple backdrop that allowed the jacket to shine.

Winter Palette

Came across these stunning images while surfing the endless labyrinth of inspiration that is Fashion Gone Rogue. An editorial in the January 2012 issue of Elle Ukraine shot by Nikolay Biryukov and styled by Natalia Osadchaya. The beautiful, bright colors of winter sportswear electrify against the snowy, white, mountainous background. The hues put my mainly black winter wardrobe to shame.
Hit the slopes in style this season!

VEDA presents Ashley Smith

Edgy, rock and roll glam mixed with creamy silk and vibrant red... perfect holiday combination

Navy Mornings

(Via Spiga trench coat, Joe Fresh scarf, Forever 21 heels)

I was given this scarf as a holiday gift and I love how it adds a pop of color to my outfits especially in the winter when black dominates my wardrobe. I paired it with a recently purchased trench coat by Via Spiga. This coat is definitely my favorite purchase of the season, it has a beautiful silk lining that keeps it surprisingly warm. When I was looking for a new winter coat, I wanted something in a more neutral color like camel or cream or black, but all I could find in a nice style was this navy color, and I am so happy I found it! The weather was surprisingly mild so I was able to skip wearing my least favorite winter accessory, tights. I also went for a red lip which I don't usually wear but thought would look nice with the navy colors in my outfit.
I hope everyone had a great holiday and got lots of fun gifts! We will be posting pictures of ours soon.

Glamour To Go

Review: Too Faced Glamour To Go

I got this mini pallet a while ago on a whim at Sephora. I was looking for a mini eyeshadow pallet with lots of color options, but that was small enough to keep in my purse. This one seemed to fit the bill and had blush and lip glosses as an added bonus. I love the eyeshadow colors because they are just subtle enough to be worn during the day. The blush is a beautiful peachy coral with a hint of shimmer. The shadows are not as pigmented as I would have liked and I find that I really have to apply a generous amount to have them show up at all. Its small size is great for travel and I adore the packaging (as with all Too Faced products). Overall I would rate this product highly for anyone whose on the go allot, but wants to keep looking day time glamorous.

LBDs

We had a great dinner last night at Morimoto for a friends birthday. We both ended up choosing to wear little black dresses from Urban Outfitters. Mine was a looser one shoulder, and I's was by Sparkle and Fade with cutout sides. Evening ended in a massive dance party in the private room below the restaurant.
Had so much fun with great friends!

Writing in Style

I got this Sharpie at the Marc Jacobs store in San Francisco. I know its just a pen, but every time I use it my writing seem more important. Most recently, I was using it to make a list of gifts I still need to get for my friends and family. Getting into the holiday spirit!

Catty

(Lime Boutique sunglasses, Spiewak and Sons jacket, Body Central leggings, Ugg boots)

Ever since I saw the images of Liu Wen stepping off the runway in a pair of cheetah leggings, I have been on the search for the perfect pair to wear with a comfy winter sweater. After many failed attempts at acquiring the right pair, I finally stumbled on these from Body Central for around $15. The pattern was classic cheetah, and they feel silky soft while somehow managing to keep me warm in the minus 40 degree weather today.

Winter Wonderland

(Photos via models.com)

These beautiful images from W Korea of the chilly, ice princess, Hailey Clauson, evoke the perfect spirit of an edgy yet glamerous winter wonderland. Dripping in jewels, covered in lace, with a dark, smokey eye to add contrasting drama in a world of white.

Hollywood Holiday

Primer: Skinprep Fx
Foundation: Laura Mercier
Eyeliner: Parado Liquid Eyeliner
Mascara: Almay Intense i-color
Lipstick: Prestige in Fire

This red lipstick by Prestige has been sitting on our makeup table for a long time without use, so I decided to try it out for a old Hollywood inspired look for the holidays. I love the cream texture of this lipstick and its bright, cheery color. I combined it with a slightly winged eyeliner, using a liquid formula that came for free along with a pair of false lashes in an asian fashion magazine. Went for a flawless face with my staple Laura Mercier and Skinprep Fx primer.

Eye Protection

(Anna-Karin Karlsson sunglasses)

As wishlist creation dominates my mind 24/7, I can't help but dream about these increadible, obsession worthy sunglasses. As a die hard, sunglass-addict, these glasses almost make me cough up the 4,500 SEK (about $670) to obtain them.
Almost...

Dear December...

(Photo via http://fashiongonerogue.com/)

December has officially arrived, in all its blustery, bleak, grayness. At least we always have the lovely craziness of holiday shopping to distract us from the weather outside. Theres nothing shiny lights, bows and Starbucks latest holiday-themed drink can't cure. A quick post of the fabulous Lindsey Wixson to provide some bright, cheerful holiday spirit to the early days of this long month.
Say colorful!

Foxy

(Urban Outfitters purse, H&M foxtail)

About two months ago I made my routinely stop into H&M, and almost immediately spotted a faux-foxtail, an item which I had been wanting for a while because of my belief that it has the ability to raise the chic-ness of any bag, and is therefore the perfect accessory.  It was the ideal shape and color, and to my surprise... only $4!  Needless to say I left the store, a new foxtail happily swinging from the zipper of my bag.  A few weeks later I noticed foxtails popping up in nearly every store and on website I visited, from Urban Outfitters, Yesstyle, and the obsession-worthy designer, Deadly Ponies. Although it is only a small accessory, I think it does wonders for any bag, and is now becoming so accessible that it can be found in almost any store, for basically nothing.
